Wood has been a key material for use in siding, trim, and fascia products for over 1,000 years but has found new applications due to advancements in finishing and treating. Innovative manufacturing processes improve the durability and workability of wood while maintaining the timeless nature of the material, giving the design community more options. This course takes architects and designers through the most specified wood species, the manufacturing processes used to create different surfaces and profiles, and the finishing options that are available. The course will also include a discussion of thermally modified wood, including its benefits and maintenance considerations.
